Ambulatory BP Monitor (24 hours)
Details
- Monitors & provide continuous recording of blood pressure readings over a 24-hour period, offering a more comprehensive assessment of blood pressure variability throughout the day and night.
- These monitors use a cuff placed around the patient’s arm, similar to standard BP measurement devices used in clinics, but are designed for extended wear and automatic periodic inflation to record readings.
- Has to wear during normal daily activities, including sleep, which provides a more accurate representation of their blood pressure patterns compared to readings taken in a clinical setting.
- Helps diagnose conditions like white coat hypertension (elevated BP in clinical settings but normal at home) and nocturnal hypertension (elevated BP during sleep), which may not be captured in a single clinic visit.
- Recorded BP data is analysed to determine average BP levels, fluctuations throughout the day, night-time dipping patterns (if BP decreases during sleep), and other parameters that guide treatment decisions and management of hypertension.
